After months of planning, Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives in this region adopted a set of qualifications for the Touchstone Energy HomeSM Program. The Touchstone Energy Home features:

Grade I wall insulation minimum

R-42 attic insulation minimum

Attic ventilation with ridge vent and aerated soffit

Conditioned crawlspace with perimeter R-10 insulation & moisture control

Do not exceed 18% of the home’s exterior total sq. ft. wall area. Double pane, Low E windows/glass doors:
Minimum windows U-Factor ≤ 0.30; SHGC ≤ 0.40

Insulated exterior doors

Whole house infiltration control to help prevent air leaks

Externally-vented exhaust systems in bathrooms and kitchen

Exterior house wrap and window wrap

Weep holes in place brick or stone cladding

Heating and cooling ducts located in conditioned space (no flex duct)

Ducts must be sealed and tested to ≤ 4 cfm to outdoors/100 sq. ft of conditioned floor area as determined and documented by a RESNET-certified rater using a RESNET-approved testing protocol or through an equivalent ASTM-approved testing protocol.

Energy-efficient electric water heating unit is in place:
•  0.92 EF for 40-70 gallon unit
•  0.91 EF for ≥ 80 gallon unit

High-efficiency electric heat pump or geothermal unit
