Urges Americans to
Change a Light, Change the World This Fall EPA and DOE are encouraging Americans
to replace their highest-use light bulbs and fixtures with those that
have earned the ENERGY STAR label. Through the Change a Light, Change the
World campaign, EPA and DOE are working with hundreds of ENERGY STAR
partner manufacturers, retailers, state governments, and utilities to
make it easy for consumers to help the environment by changing a light.
If every US household replaced their five most frequently used fixtures,
or the light bulbs in them, with ENERGY STAR qualified models, not only
would each household save more than $60 each year in energy costs, but
we'd also collectively save an amount of energy equivalent to the annual
output of more than 20 power plants and keep more than 1 trillion pounds
of greenhouse gases out of our air.
